Joseph “Joe” C. Strakonsky III passed peacefully away on October 23, 2023, at the age of 73 in his home in Tampa, Florida. His battle with various medical issues in recent years showed his courage and strength even in the most challenging of times. Despite his pain, Joe’s love and compassion for others shined through till the end.

Joe never met a stranger. He had a way of making you feel like you were part of the family. Even in the smallest encounter you would walk away with a story and a lasting memory of a new friend made.

He proudly served his country as a United States Marine in the Vietnam War. After his service Joe became a piping engineer, and he used his charisma to make friends in all 50 states and the various countries that he worked. His career allowed Joe to do what he loved; travel, explore, and discover hidden gems that he would later share with his family. He loved life and lived it to its fullest.

He is remembered by his partner Carole Wyman; his children Tamara (Jon) Peterson, Kent (Margarita Garza) Strakonsky, Renee (Corey) Johnston; and grandchildren, Aidan Peterson, Jude Johnston, Reed Johnston, and Cash Johnston.

A Celebration of Life service will be held January 6, 2024, at his home in Tampa, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Metropolitan Ministries, 2002 N. Florida Ave
Tampa, FL 33602.
