JAMES “JIM” ROGERS (84) OF VALRICO PASSED AWAY ON THURSDAY, APRIL 6, 2023.
HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS LOVING WIFE PANSY (PAM) ROGERS AND SURVIVED BY HIS CHILDREN, JAMES ROGERS III, SUSAN PIKER, CHARLIE ROGERS, BECKY ROGERS, MICHAEL ROGERS (DIANE), KEN ROGERS (KATHY), 13 GRANDCHILDREN, AND SEVERAL GREAT-GRAND-CHILDREN. HE WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS FATHER, TWO BROTHERS, AND SISTER. JIM ENJOYED A LIFELONG CAREER IN MILLWORK AND RETIRED FROM S&S CRAFTSMAN IN JUNE 2012 AFTER 54 YEARS OF SERVICE IN THE INDUSTRY.
JIM WAS BORN IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA TO JAMES CLYDE SR. AND DORIS MAE ROGERS, ONE OF FOUR CHILDREN ALONGSIDE JOANNA, WATSON, AND CHARLIE. WHEN HE WAS YOUNG HIS FAMILY MOVED TO THE TAMPA, FL AREA WHERE JIM ATTENDED CHAMBERLAIN HIGH SCHOOL. AS HE STARTED HIS FAMILY AT A YOUNG AGE AND BEGAN THE RAISING OF SIX CHILDREN, HE STARTED RACING STOCK CARS AT GOLDEN GATE SPEEDWAY AND OTHER LOCAL TRACKS FROM THE 1960’S TO THE EARLY 80’S.
AFTER RETIRING, JIM’S LOVE OF CLASSIC CARS CONTINUED TO GROW, LEADING HIM TO BUY A 1955 FORD VICTORIA WHICH HE BEGAN TAKING TO LOCAL CAR SHOWS. HE WOULD GO ON TO WIN NUMEROUS TROPHIES AS WELL AS THE ADMIRATION OF FELLOW ENTHUSIASTS FOR HIS KNOWLEDGE. OVER TIME HE WOULD MAKE NUMEROUS FRIENDS IN THE CAR SHOW WORLD AND HAS LEFT A LASTING IMPACT ON THE GROUP.

Worked with Jim at S&S Craftsmen for over 15 years, very nice man. Unfortunately it had been a while since I last saw Jim, my sympathies go out to his remaining family.
