Corey Scott Johnson was born April 4, 1991, in Tampa, FL to Jeff and Tracie Johnson. Tracie had a daughter, Dayna, from a previous marriage. Corey’s parents divorced in 1994. Jeff married Laura Bertman in 1997 and Corey’s family grew with their two sons, Matthew, and Bryan. Tracie married Michael Murray in 2001 and Corey gained two stepsisters, Mandy and Rebecca. Several years later, Josiah Izquierdo joined Tracie’s family.

Corey attended Bowers/Whitley for mechanical training. He enjoyed spending time camping and fishing. His best nights of sleep were spent in a tent under the stars. Corey was easygoing and friendly. He was often found smiling and laughing.

Corey fell in love with Jessica Britton in 2019. They had their daughter, Holly, later that year. Jessie had a daughter, Lilly, who Corey loved and raised as his own.

Corey was preceded in death by his mother, Tracie (2013), and his stepsister, Mandy (2021). He is survived by his daughter, Holly; his father, Jeff (Laura); his half-brothers, Matthew and Bryan; his sister, Dayna (William), and her sons, Sawyer and Finn; his brother Josiah; his stepsister, Rebecca; his aunts, Dody (Matt) and Cindy (Tommy); his uncles, Michael (Jessica), Chad (Martha), and Scott (Heather); as well as many cousins.

There will be a service held in his honor on Saturday, April 6th at 2PM at Vision United Worship Center 7922 SR-52 E, Hudson, FL 34668. Reception to follow.

Florida law states “A cremation may not be performed until a legally authorized person gives written authorization for such cremation,” (FS 497.607).  Furthermore, the law defines whom the “legally authorized person” is and sets up the order of priority of next of kin. We require a written authorization before scheduling any cremation or funeral services. The “Authorization for Cremation and Disposition” form must be signed by the next of kin in the following order: spouse, son or daughter (of legal age), parent, brother or sister, grandchild, grandparent.
