May 9, 1935 – May 10, 2026

Vivian Lucille Cullaro (née Libby), a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dedicated nurse, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, just one day after celebrating her 91st birthday.

Born on May 9, 1935, Vivian distinguished herself early as the valedictorian of her graduating class at Jefferson High School, reflecting the intelligence, determination, and drive that would guide her throughout her life. She devoted her early adult years to raising her four children – she could be tough as nails, but she loved fiercely and cared deeply for her family.

Vivian also had a lifelong love of dog and horses, finding joy, peace, and companionship in their presence throughout her life. Her love for animals was a reflection of the deep compassion she carried beneath her strong exterior.

Once her youngest child entered college, Vivian pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. She earned her nursing degree and went on to serve as an oncology nurse at Moffitt Cancer Center. Though Vivian often carried a tough exterior and a no-nonsense demeanor, her compassion ran deep. Her skill, strength, and caring nature touched the lives of countless patients, families, and colleagues. Nursing was more than a profession to Vivian; it was an extension of the deep care and devotion she carried within her heart.

Above all else, Vivian’s life was centered around family. She is survived by her husband, John Joseph Cullaro, Sr.; her children, Douglas Cullaro and his wife Robbin, Debi Hickson and her husband Craig, Lisa Cullaro, and John Cullaro Jr. and his wife Erin. She also leaves behind a cherished legacy through her grandchildren: Christina (Cullaro) Gotsis and her husband Gus, Katherine Cullaro, Douglas Cullaro and his wife Victoria, Joshua Hickson and his wife Allison, Jonathan Hickson, Danielle Hickson, Benjamin Hickson, Michael Hickson, John Cullaro III, and Grace Cullaro. Her love extended joyfully into the next generation through her great-grandchildren Gavin, Kaleb, and Garret Kruse, Luke and Olivia Gotsis, and Oliver Hickson.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine Elaine Libby (née Morris) and Charles Harry Libby, and her sister, Charlaine Libby.

A private family gathering will be held on Friday, May 15, to celebrate Vivian’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay in her name, honoring her lifelong love for her four-legged companions.
