We remember Donald Eugene Spohr, 89, who departed from us on November 22, 2024 in Tampa, Florida.

Donald was born in Chicago, Illinois. Married to Nancy Spohr (deceased 2016). Son to Charles T Spohr and Cathrine B Spohr. Brother to Patricia Rizzato.

Donald is survived by his sister, Patricia Rizzato, Children: Douglas Spohr, Donna Aschenbrenner, and Diane Spohr. Grandchildren: Luke Conner, Nancy Lavallee-Self, Dawn Conner-Bennett, Chelsea Spohr, Clinton Conner, Jeffrey Spohr, and Megan Vandermeer. Great-Grandchildren: Jeremiah Self, Timothy Self, Chloe Bennett, Reid Spohr, Kenzie Bennett, Pippin Vandermeer, Kaia Spohr, and Phoebe Vandermeer.

In his early adult years, he worked for Northern Illinois Gas Company. In 1973, Donald and his family moved to Tampa to work with his father and later own Spohr’s Amoco on Kennedy Blvd. Don spent some time working at Neilsen’s and local golf courses. However, he most enjoyed the multiple years of service as a school crossing guard for Hillsborough County.

Don and his wife enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family. Don and Nancy made memorable trips across the US and Canada. Don loved watching and playing sports. As a kid, he excelled in basketball and baseball. As an adult, he continued to participate in softball and basketball recreational leagues.

In his memory, Don’s children will be hosting a celebration of life at The Oaks at St. Mark’s Event Venue at 13312 Cain Rd, Tampa, FL 33625 on 12/05/24 from 1-3PM.

Florida law states “A cremation may not be performed until a legally authorized person gives written authorization for such cremation,” (FS 497.607).  Furthermore, the law defines whom the “legally authorized person” is and sets up the order of priority of next of kin. We require a written authorization before scheduling any cremation or funeral services. The “Authorization for Cremation and Disposition” form must be signed by the next of kin in the following order: spouse, son or daughter (of legal age), parent, brother or sister, grandchild, grandparent.
