Margaret Plumb passed away in August 2024. Born in Woodstock, Ontario on 12 August 1931, Margaret relocated to Florida with her family in 1975.

Lovingly known in the family as “Gram”, Margaret devoted her life to raising her daughters, and then to raising their children. She will be fondly remembered for her homemade cookies, Sunday dinners, and for making the best grilled cheese sandwiches at precisely the right time. A friend to all animals, Margaret cared for many pets during her lifetime.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, sister, husband, and countless lifelong friends. She is survived by her daughters, Susan, Lynn (Robert), and Carol (Bob), and her five grandchildren: Michelle (Mitchell), Jason (Kelle), Jeffrey (Amber), Kristin (Matthew), and Donald.

Gram’s house was a sanctuary and safe haven for all, as she also frequently cared for her grandchildrens’ friends before and after school. In the 1990s she regularly volunteered her time teaching students at Essrig Elementary how to read. She is deeply loved and remembered by all who surrounded her.

Florida law states “A cremation may not be performed until a legally authorized person gives written authorization for such cremation,” (FS 497.607).  Furthermore, the law defines whom the “legally authorized person” is and sets up the order of priority of next of kin. We require a written authorization before scheduling any cremation or funeral services. The “Authorization for Cremation and Disposition” form must be signed by the next of kin in the following order: spouse, son or daughter (of legal age), parent, brother or sister, grandchild, grandparent.
