Rosemary Martino Russo, passed away at nearly 91, on September 14, 2021, at the home of her son Giacomo “Jack” Anthony Russo and daughter-in-law, Dr. Leigh Soutter Russo in Tampa, Florida.

She married her husband Giacomo “Jack Sr.” Russo in 1951, when she was barely 20 years old. Their 70th anniversary would have occurred this year.  Rose and Jack Sr. were business partners for their entire marriage including their grocery store (“Russo’s Superette”) in Brooklyn, New York, and their  Boar’s Heads Distribution business in New York, and real estate investments in New York, Florida and Puerto Rico. Rosemary is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Sr. (who made it to almost 90 years old), her sister, Ann (who lived to 92) and her youngest son, Richard, who died last year. She is survived by her son, Jack, her daughter, Patti, her four grandchildren, and her seven great-grandchildren as well as her younger brother, Richard C. Martino of New York.

A small service for the interment of her ashes will be held 10:30 am on Monday October 25 at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg.  Bay Pines recommends coming about 30 minutes early for Covid pre-screening.

Florida law states “A cremation may not be performed until a legally authorized person gives written authorization for such cremation,” (FS 497.607).  Furthermore, the law defines whom the “legally authorized person” is and sets up the order of priority of next of kin. We require a written authorization before scheduling any cremation or funeral services.
