, 87, passed away on July 16, 2020. He was preceded in death by his loving parents and his daughter, Jana Caranante Davis. Vince was survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jovanna Spoto Caranante, sons Vinny (Joanna), Lance (Susan), Keith (Kelly), son-in-law John Davis, grandchildren Jovanna Caranante Davis, Olivia Davis, Caroline, Vincent, Marco, Nico, Giovanni, Kate and Emma Caranante, and brothers Sam and Joe Caranante.

Vince went to the University of Florida and then to Emory School of Dentistry. After graduation, he served as a Lieutenant in the Navy. He practiced dentistry in Tampa for over 60 years with his brother Sam. Vince was a team dentist for the Tampa Bay Lightning and the New York Yankees. After retirement from his practice, he continued to care for patients in nursing homes and taught a class at a local dental trade school. He enjoyed his retirement years at the beach. He was a huge Florida Gator fan and attended football games right up through this last season. Vince had a true passion for his profession, the Florida Gators, and travel. Only his love for his family surpassed those interests. Vince was gentle, kind-hearted and affectionate to everyone he encountered. He was a genuine fun-loving person and friend to many. He was a loving dedicated husband, and a proud father and “Nanu” to his nine grandchildren. “Nanu” always whispered his one secret to each of his grandchildren, “I love you.” He lived a wonderful life and is now reunited with his beloved daughter, Jana.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services have been held. However, there will be a Celebration of Life in Vince’s memory. Date and details to be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the University of Florida fund called UF’s Greatest Needs https://www.uff.ufl.edu/giving-opportunities/021111-ufs-greatest-needs/. UF’s Greatest Needs promotes the UF traditions of honor and excellence by making possible some of the universities most important initiatives including scholarship and research.

Jovanna and family, know that all that were privileged to have known Vince have been saddened by his passing from this world, however they also have all expressed their experiences and/or relationship to Vince were enhanced because of their knowing him. They all have celebrated his life as it related to them as having been uplifted and better because they were fortunate to have passed his way during his time in this life. What a tribute to Vince and to each of you. I am sorry for the grief you are experiencing, I hope in some small way this note will help you along the journey of healing.

“Vince” was out “Joe Dimaggio”. My close friend for 75 years. We, Vince, Joey. and I played “sand lot” baseball behind our Selma Avenue houses for years before we graduated to the 1930 Model A Ford. I never heard an unkind word about Vince or from him.
