Eddie Billups of Tampa Florida – passed away on February 8, 2024, he was 93 years old. Born October 24, 1931 in Sumter, South Carolina, Eddie was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force, and retired as an E-7, (Master Sargent). Eddie served his country, his church and his community proudly.

After serving in the military for more than 20 years, Eddie worked as a United States Mail Carrier in his Columbus Ohio community for many years. He was loved and respected by everyone who met him. Eddie loved his church community and was a member of the Church of Christ in Columbus Ohio. During his life of service, Eddie’s greatest passion was serving his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Alma Billups of Tampa Florida. They lived together in their beautiful home in Columbus Ohio within an historical community for 54 years before deciding to return to Tampa Florida so he and his wife could live near and be reunited with her relatives in Tampa.

Eddie was a proud man and loving husband to Alma their entire lives together. Eddie and Alma had no children but were surrounded by nieces and nephews.

Eddie is survived by his wife Alma, and his niece, Maryann Roman, his deceased sister’s daughter and three generations of nieces and nephews on his wife’s side of the family, all of whom loved and cared for Eddie & Alma all their lives.

Eddie will be remembered by many as the nicest man you could ever have hoped to have a conversation with. He loved speaking about his military work, refueling military airplanes while in mid-flight and his life experiences. Eddie was the type of man that once when met him, you felt the difference a truly marvelous and rare human being makes in the world.
