STAHL, Doris M.

STAHL, Doris M.

, 94, passed away on May 31, 2020, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.

She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 22, 1926 and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. Her
parents were Henrietta and Edward J. Knecht. She attended St. Augustine’s Academy for Girls
in Lakewood. In the early 1950’s, she moved to Miami, Florida with her parents. She worked in
retail sales at Burdines and later in banking. In Miami she met and married Bert G. Stahl from
Coral Gables in 1957, and they had two sons, Thomas and William (Jerry). The young family
then moved north to Fort Lauderdale and lived there for over thirty years. After Bert passed
away in 1993, she moved to Tampa in 1994 to be closer to her son and grandchildren. She was
a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother.

Doris is survived by two sons: Thomas and his wife, Stephanie, of Tampa, Florida, and Jerry
and his husband, Robert, of Charlotte, North Carolina. She has three grandchildren: Tad,
Mollie, Edward and granddaughter-in-law Ashley. She adored her grandchildren and never
missed their football and baseball games, recitals, school events, cheerleading competitions, and
Edward’s wedding.

She loved animals, especially dogs and cats. At various times over the years, she cared for
eleven dogs and numerous puppies. She was a foster mother for dogs as well. Her favorite
books to read were murder mysteries and thrillers. She crafted ceramics and jewelry with her
sister, Joyce Tegreeny. She always enjoyed a glass of white Zinfandel with dinner along with
any kind of dessert. One of her passions was to spend many hours in her gardens in Fort
Lauderdale and Tampa. Her prized amaryllises were beautiful and are thriving today. She
enjoyed traveling with her family to places like England and France and loved to visit North
Carolina. She truly cherished her day trips in Florida with Tom, Stephanie and Stephanie’s
mom, Wilma Meeks.

Doris loved watching football and baseball, her favorite teams being the Bucs, the Dolphins,
and the Rays. She also loved to bowl, being on several different leagues throughout the years.
Every year at Christmas, she made beaded calendars for family and friends. Her kind and gentle
spirit will be greatly missed, but we know she is brightening heaven with her compassion and
love.

Her Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 13 th , 2020 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at
Cremations of Greater Tampa Bay, 110 N. MacDill Avenue, Tampa, FL 33609
Friends and family are more than welcome to attend.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.

Will miss you, Doris. You were always so kind to me & my son, Hils. I remember all the animal friends we both had over the years, including the big yellow cat we had to take to vet. Many happy memories. Love to all the family.

Doris was our neighbor and such a dear sweet lady. We will always remember how she loved and cared for her animal friends, especially Little Missy. She loved Christmas and always sent a card and gave a beautiful calendar with cats, dogs, and flowers with colored sequins that she had applied by hand, they shined so beautifully and were always wrapped so perfectly. We will miss her very much. Rest in peace, dear friend.
