John Joseph Rivera, of Lutz, FL, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 5, 2025, at the age of 57. He leaves behind the love of his life, Grace Lisa (Licenziato). John was the loving father of Gabriella Grace, John Jr. (Alyssa), and Rocco Antonio. John was the beloved son of the late Juan Manuel and Maryann (Ciesla) Rivera. He’s survived by his sister as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

John graduated from Locust Valley High School in 1986. He worked for over 40 years as a dedicated plumber and pipefitter, known for his strong work ethic and pride in his craft. An avid car enthusiast and lifelong New York Giants fan, John found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Whether cracking jokes, working with his hands, or cheering on his team, he brought humor and energy to every room he entered. John led a humble and kind life in accordance with God’s will. Through his faith in Jesus Christ, he ensured everlasting life in the Kingdom of Heaven.

A memorial service, followed by a celebration of life, will be held at Bay Hope Church in Lutz, FL, on June 28, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. All who knew and loved John are welcome to attend.

The family has entrusted services to Cremations of Greater Tampa Bay. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in John’s memory to Joshua House (friendsofjoshuahouse.org), a cause close to his heart.

John was a gentle giant with a heart of gold. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

I will miss my dear cousin’s calls, out of the blue, just to talk and laugh. I loved his laughter because it was a heartfelt, warm laughter that made you feel happy to be near him. Glad Larry and I got to have lunch with you at Cody’s when you were in town doing a job for a customer. I will always remember that little boy I used to watch as a young girl. I am glad that you invited Jesus to be Lord of your life. Say hi to mom and the rest of the Rivera clan. Love you always, primo.

I had the pleasure of knowing John, but not for a very long time. I would call him from time to time for help in his plumbing knowledge and refer him to people i couldn’t help. He always had time to talk to me, even when he was busy. I will miss him as will everyone else. Thanks for you help John. God bless you.

Can you at least help the Giants while you’re up there please?

That’s the best I can do. I can’t say anything else, Grace, Bella, Junior and Rocco, he spoke of you all the time. He loved you with all his heart May God heal your pain. 😘

One of John’s most admirable characteristic traits was loyalty. John’s loyalty and commitment to their marriage and raising their children Bella , Johnny jr and Rocco was rare and special.
He led by example of being a loving and respectful husband to my sister, Grace. Together, they raised a beautiful family with many memories to cherish. I have fond memories of visiting them in FL with John coaching juniors football, Bella cheerleading and Grace cheering them on.
Rest in peace my brother-in-law John.
