Joseph Richard Clary of Tampa, Florida died on November 16th, 2025, at the age of 84 after a long illness. Richard was born in Atlanta, Georgia on March 16th, 1941. He grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and Lakeland, Florida. Richard was a graduate of the University of South Florida with B.S. in Mathematics. Working for various companies in statistics, systems computer programing, and capacity planning. He retired from GTE Florida.

Richard was an avid scuba diver and certified PADI rescue diver. He also enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, and dancing. He was predeceased by his parents, Joe D. and Kathleen M. Clary. He is survived by his loving wife Sandra Balkum Clary, his brother Warren G. Clary (Elsie Ray) of Lakeland, Florida, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Lifepath Hospice of Tampa, Florida. A memorial will be scheduled at a later date.

Florida law states “A cremation may not be performed until a legally authorized person gives written authorization for such cremation,” (FS 497.607).  Furthermore, the law defines whom the “legally authorized person” is and sets up the order of priority of next of kin. We require a written authorization before scheduling any cremation or funeral services. The “Authorization for Cremation and Disposition” form must be signed by the next of kin in the following order: spouse, son or daughter (of legal age), parent, brother or sister, grandchild, grandparent.
