Larry R. Cantrell ,62, of Tampa passed away Saturday July 29th, 2023 at James A. Haley V.A. hospital in Tampa Florida.
He was born August 8th, 1960 in Adrian City Michigan, the son of Edward and Helen (Putnam) Cantrell.
Larry served in the United States armed forces from 7-18-1978 until 7-17-1981. He trained at Fort Hood in Texas. While in the army he worked as a medical supply specialist and spent some time in Korea. Upon his honorable discharge he was awarded with the good conduct medal and marksman badge (rifle)(grenade).
Most of his working years were spent with Truly Nolen and then Best pest control.
He was a devout Christian and member of East Chelsea Baptist Church (the sweetest church on the planet) where he served as a Sunday school teacher to children and then adults. In more recent years he became a truck stop chaplain with the T/A Chapel TMI ministry.
He also attended the Florida State Fair the last few years with the wordless book tent to share the gospel. Leading people to Christ was the number one priority in his life and he did as often as he could and in any situation. He would always find time to share his testimony.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his sister Rose Jones and brother Edward Cantrell Jr.
He is survived by ex wife and good friend Dina Cantrell , children Elizabeth Vega , Christopher Vega , Jason Vega (Cantrell) , and Keith and Stephanie (Cantrell) Bowles. His siblings, Jimmy Cantrell , Danny Cantrell, Nancy Atwell (Cantrell) Gloria Gilmore (Cantrell) and Linda Newell (Cantrell), He had four grandchildren.
Services will be held at East Chelsea Baptist Church in Tampa Florida on Saturday August 19th , 2023 at 1pm.

Larry was a great guy and God-fearng man. I was honored and blessed to be his deacon. He definitely loved Jesus, his family, church, and friends. We will always remember him and miss him.
