Elaine M. Butler, 88, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024 from complications relating to Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on February 26, 1936 in Auburn, Massachusetts to Leonard and Dorothy Moule. She received a degree in Fine Arts from Boston University. She married and raised her four daughters in Mattapoisett, MA, moved to Florida in 1982, launched her own interior decorating company, traveled and enjoyed many sailing adventures in the Bahamas and the Florida coast. She is survived by her family: Maura (Brad) Lear of Temple Terrace, FL; Amy (Larry) Tucceri of Star Valley Ranch, WY; Sarah (Byron) Martin of Tampa, FL; and Kathryn (Scott) Smith of Soddy Daisy, TN; her grandchildren Samantha (Ben) Marquis, Matthew (Kelsey) Tucceri, Henry Lear, Daniel, Andrew, and Ryan Martin; and three great-grandchildren: Wesson and Luke Marquis and Sophie Tucceri. The family would like to thank the staff of the Colonnade and Accent Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.

Florida law states “A cremation may not be performed until a legally authorized person gives written authorization for such cremation,” (FS 497.607).  Furthermore, the law defines whom the “legally authorized person” is and sets up the order of priority of next of kin. We require a written authorization before scheduling any cremation or funeral services. The “Authorization for Cremation and Disposition” form must be signed by the next of kin in the following order: spouse, son or daughter (of legal age), parent, brother or sister, grandchild, grandparent.
