BERRANINI, Romeo of Tampa, passed away on November 18, 2022, surrounded by his family. Appreciated and recognized for his kindness, he is survived by his children Fabrice (Antonia) and Alexandra (Mikael); his granddaughters, Viviane and Valentina; as well as many relatives and friends in the United States, France and Italy.
Chef Romeo, as he was known, was the owner of the Monte Carlo Restaurant and was renowned for his fine cuisine, emphasizing dishes inspired by Provence, with an influence from neighboring Italy. During its 25-year history, the restaurant has won repeated recognition as the best French restaurant in the Bay Area.
Throughout his life, Romeo loved the arts. Having learned to paint at the age of 14 and winning a first prize shortly thereafter, he never stopped being inspired by painting, especially the landscapes of his childhood.
As a young man, he experienced the trauma of the Algerian war when he was mobilized in the French Army for three years. Wounded in battle, he never forgot the futility of the lives lost on both sides, and had since then always believed in peace between all.
Now reunited with his parents and sisters, a church service will be held at a later date to honor his memory.
