BALLAS, Sally Sue Oakes

BALLAS, Sally Sue Oakes

Sally Sue Oakes Ballas, passed away at the age of 65, on August 22, 2021, at her home in Temple Terrace, Florida. She was born in Huntington, West Virginia on February 22, 1956, to her parents George and Patricia Oakes. Her daddy moved the family to Temple Terrace, Florida in 1960. She attended local schools and graduated from King High in 1974.

Sally is preceded in death by both of her parents, and her brother, Scott. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 27 years, Peter; son and daughter-in-law, Tom, and Amy, along with four grandchildren; and her friends who always made the hard days better with their love and support.

Sally and Peter had the opportunity to live on both coasts, in Southern and Northern California, as well as Lancaster, Pennsylvania. No matter where she went, Temple Terrace was always her home and in 1997, they decided it was time to return. In August of that year, they opened and operated Carrollwood Deli, until they both retired in 2011.

Per Sally’s request, there will be no services.

Donations may be made in her honor to South Eastern Guide Dogs or Moffitt Cancer Center.

And I say to myself, “What a wonderful world.”

Sally Sue was a big sister to me, a gal pal and a true soul that was always there to listen. Her bright smile would light up a room and she loved people and her garden. I cherish her love of life and the wonderful memories we made, she’s with her family again and I pray Peter will always feel the love of her friends ~

Sally, you had an infectious smile .A
