William Herbert “Bill” Kemp, age 61, passed away on August 2, 2025, in Brooksville, Florida, after a courageous seven-month battle with small cell lung cancer. His strength and resilience throughout his illness were a testament to the unwavering spirit that defined his life.

Born on September 10, 1963, in Schenectady, New York, Bill grew up in upstate New York and attended Ballston Spa High School. At the young age of sixteen, he began working in the construction industry—a field that would become both his livelihood and his passion. Bill had an extraordinary talent for remodeling and painting homes. Painting was more than just a job to him; it was a craft he mastered and loved deeply. There was nothing he couldn’t build or fix, and his work left a lasting mark on every home he touched.

In 1982, Bill enlisted in the United States Army and later served in the Army Reserves. He held a deep love for his country and all things patriotic—a sentiment that remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Bill shared 42 devoted years of marriage with his loving wife, Cindy Lee Kemp. They were married in Seffner, Fl in November 1982. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and enduring companionship. One of their favorite pastimes was simply rocking together on the porch after a long day—moments of quiet joy that spoke volumes about their bond.

He was a proud father to three children: Holly Cook (Mat), Cody Kemp, and Crystal Nelson. His role as “Papa” brought him immense joy, and he cherished every moment spent with his six grandchildren: Mathew Cook (Haley), Bradley Cook (Bianca), Abigail Nelson, Jacob Nelson, Nicholas Nelson, and Callie Kemp. Whether cheering them on or sharing stories from the porch Bill’s presence was a constant source of warmth and support.

Bill also leaves behind his brother- and sister-in-law Victor and Barbara Lawall; nephews Justin Lawall (Brittany) and Trevor Lawall (Hope); many lifelong friends; and his beloved fur baby Maggie May.

He was preceded in death by his father Neil Kemp and mother Jean Lutz.

A man of many talents and boundless energy, Bill found joy not only in his work but also in simple pleasures—fishing from his new boat or enjoying a cold one at the end of a hard day’s labor. He spent over ten years coaching Little League baseball alongside his son Cody in Ridge Manor, Florida—an experience that reflected both his love for family and commitment to community.

Bill was an amazing husband, father, papa, friend—and above all—a man who would do anything for those he loved. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched with kindness, skillful hands, generous heart, and steadfast loyalty.

May William Herbert “Bill” Kemp’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
